Fly Baby Byrd, Fly

I wanted to share these pictures with you. Matthew loved to be thrown in the air when he was little. It always made my Mother a nervous wreck to see my children thrown in the air by Michael, which made him want to do it even more to get a reaction out of her. Owen is following in his brothers footsteps and he too, loves to be thrown in the air.

Matthew (12-18 months)

Owen (7 months)

Half way through Christmas......

Well, we're almost done celebrating Christmas. We had Christmas last Saturday at my house with my Daddy and siblings for lunch. For supper we had Christmas with Mama and the rest of the family. We had a very busy day. Today of course, we did our "at home" family Christmas with Matthew and Owen. This coming Saturday we finish up Christmas with Michael's Daddy for lunch and his mother for supper. I'm tired just thinking about it. I'll post Christmas pictures when we're done celebrating. I'll leave you with a clip of Matthew singing Go Tell It On the Mountain. He got a microphone for Christmas and we have all enjoyed it.

It's a New Post!!

I love this time of year. Thanksgiving coming to an end and Christmas just beginning. I love getting out of my Christmas decorations. I forget from year to year what all I have and it all seems new again. Matthew had the best time decorating his room with the decorations that I didn't want to use in other parts of the house. He was so proud of his room. He had ornaments hanging from doorknobs, a table runner on top of his toy box, Santa Clause on his bookshelf, and he hung some sort of stocking from his bed post. It looks sort of ridiculous, but he loves it, so I guess it stays.

Thanksgiving....we had a great Thanksgiving. We went to Philadelphia to spend Thanksgiving with Michael's family. We had a great time. This was our first time to see our new niece, Presley. She is one month younger than Owen. Matthew had a great time playing with his cousin, Dayton. They are also one month apart. What are the odds of that? Saturday, we had Thanksgiving with my family in Columbus. I don't think I'll be able to eat again for a while. We are all stuffed.

Owen...Our little Owen is growing so fast. It's so hard to believe. I thought Matthew was a busy baby, but Owen has him beat. He's so close to crawling, he rocks on his knees, but can't quite get the coordination of crawling yet. He does, however, get to where he wants to go. He's also pulling up in his crib. He's been pulling to his knees, but just this morning I noticed that he had pulled to a standing position. He also loves his Johnny Jump-up. He had his 6 month check up this past Tuesday. Height: 27" Weight: 18 lbs

Halloween

We had so much fun trick-or-treating. I wasn't going to dress Owen up, but Old Navy had their costumes 50% off so I thought, why not? So, Owen was some sort of dragon and Matthew was Spiderman. We had a great time with friends who came over to share in the fun. Enjoy the pictures.

Pumpkins

Matthew's Mother's Day Out class went to the pumpkin patch in Caledonia earlier this week. Owen and I went out there also. I was hoping to get some good pictures of either one of them and/or both of them together, but that did not work out. Hopefully we will be able to go back as a family and get some good pictures.

Matthew's Class

Owen wouldn't look at me. This was the best I could do.

I'm Back

It's been while since I've posted, but I got out of my blog mood, but now I'm back in the mood. So, you might ask what's new at the Byrd house. Well....I went to the beach last weekend (Gulfshores) with my Sister, Susan, and my Sister-in-Law, Kristi. We all three came from opposite directions so we met up Friday afternoon and enjoyed visiting and eating at Zeeks that night. Saturday, we literally shopped all day. We arrived at the shopping center around 11:00 AM and left around 6:00 PM. We did stop for lunch, but other than that we actually shopped 'til we dropped. All that shopping made us hungry for supper, so that night we went to The Original Oyster House. So good!! This is definitely the best time to go to the beach. The weather was perfect and hardly any wait time at the restaurants. Michael did a great job playing "Mr. Mom". I'm so fortunate that I have a husband that I trust 100%. I never have to worry about the kids when I'm gone. Thank you Michael for my Sister weekend!!

I would post some beach pictures, but I really hate myself in pictures. I'm not sure how long I can use the excuse "I just had a baby" but, I just had a baby, and yes I feel......I'll just say it....Large! I know...I will post the picture of the interesting dead fish that we found. Let me know if you know what kind of fish this is, I have no idea. Of course, I don't know many fish names anyway.

I don't like weird fish.

The Byrds and the Bees, Part 2

Well, our bee problem has been taken care of. Two men came out this afternoon to gather the bee hive. It was very interesting. They looked so professional with their bee gear and bee box. Apparently, there is a shortage of bees and you're not suppose to kill them due to pollination issues. They cut a branch of the tree where the hive was and placed it in a box. He said at this point they were not aggressive bees, but were looking for a place to do their honey making. We didn't want any honey making in our Byrd tree. Matthew enjoyed the bee man as you can see in the pictures.

The Byrds and the Bees

Okay, it's not what you think, but we do have bees. We've had our share of spiders, weird bugs, and yes some mice (outside thankfully), but never have we had a bee hive. How in the world are you suppose to get rid of a bunch of angry bees? I just want to be inside the house whenever the brave sole (whoever it may be) decides to destroy our hive. Actually, we heard of a man (a beekeeper) that will come get the bees. I'll call tomorrow and hopefully he'll come out to the house to collect our bees and take them to his house.

Soccer Game

We had our first soccer game this past Saturday. It was a lot of fun. The weather was beautiful and the kids did a great job. It was hilarious to watch. It's so funny, the kids don't care where they kick the ball just as long as their kicking the ball. The opposing team kicked it in our net a few times and were so proud that they "scored". Matthew kicked it in the net once and was so excited. He loves playing soccer. There are 8 more games between now and the end of the season. I have a feeling by game 8 we'll be ready for soccer to be over (at least I will).

Our Growing "O"

Lil O went to the doctor this week for his 4 month shots/checkup. He has an incredibly loud scream when in pain. I really hate shots, my heart aches for him when he hurts so bad. He had a great appointment. If you need a doctor, I highly recommend considering Lisa Mason at Dr. Ski's. She's a nurse practitioner and she's wonderful. She takes her time, answers questions, and I never feel rushed. Owen like her too. Listed are Owen's stats:

Height: 25"
Weight: 16 lbs 7oz

Happy Birthday, Lindsay

My neice, Lindsay, will celebrate her 7th birthday on Saturday. Hope you have a great day.

Great picture, Byron

Matthew Singing

Last Sunday going to church Matthew was in the back seat and started to sing. I love to hear him sing. There's nothing better than to hear the sweet sound of him singing Jesus Loves Me. That night as we were tucking him in bed I asked him if we would sing it again so I could record him. He loves to watch himself on the camera so of course he agreed. Don't you just love the striped pajama pants? Don't forget to pause the music at the bottom of the page to hear Matthew sing.

The Miracle Egg

I have a new product. I'm usually the last one to learn or hear about things so I'm sure that you know about the new miracle egg. Well, they call this egg, the PedEgg. I love this thing. It works great on your feet. I was a little nervous to use it the first time because it looks like a cheese grater. I could just imagine bits of my foot on the bathroom floor as I grated away my heel. Thankfully it was pain free and it worked a miracle on my feet. You can buy your own pedegg at a local drugstore (Walgreens, RiteAid, etc.), I got mine at Goody's. I've attached some pictures of my egg!

Soccer Practice

Well, we've started soccer practice last week. They looked so cute on the field playing. Matthew loved running and kicking the ball. There are 6 little friends on Matthew's team. After the first practice, I'm not really expecting any major wins, but it's all for fun and they had a great time. That's all that matters when you're 4. Michael has unexpectantly become the assistant coach (thanks, Scott). He really enjoyed helping out, hopefully with his work schedule he'll be able to help at each practice. Mark your calendar, their first real game is September 27th. The little girl in the picture is Sophie, Matthew's "girlfriend".

Happy Birthday, Susan!!

I almost forgot to mention my sister's birthday. She celebrated her 35th birthday yesterday. If you don't know her story please read her CaringBridge Page. Hope you had a happy birthday, Susan.

Our Summer

Although summer is not officially over, I feel as though it is at the Byrd house. With school starting back and routines changing it seems like we've moved on to Fall. I wanted to share some things that we did this summer. Our biggest event was the birth of Owen. He was born May 20th. He's been such a good baby. We've had our share of sleepless nights and some napless days, but overall he's such a blessing to our family. If I could only get him to ride in his car seat without crying things would really be great. I just try to focus on the radio and get to where ever I'm going as quickly as possible. Matthew handles his crying very well (most days).

Michael, Matthew, and myself went on our summer "vacation" to Alabama Adventure in July. We had a lot of fun. I highly recommend going if you get the chance. We were able to stay with my Brother's family who lives in Birmingham. Thank you Byron and Kristi for watching Matthew while Michael and I enjoyed a night in Birmingham.

Matthew's first soccer practice is Monday night. I'm so excited to see him play. Matthew is going to love kicking the ball and running. If you've ever spent time with Matthew you know that he LOVES to run. He's a fast little thing too!

We got some good pictures of Owen tonight. He'd just woken up from his nap and was in a good mood. I thought I would share them with you. How can you not love a bald baby with a huge smile? Don't forget to pause the music to hear the video.

Has Your Jaw Dropped? Yes it's an Update.

Yes, it's true. I've had this blog for close to a year now. The only reason I started this blog was for the pregnancy ticker. I never intended to actually blog. Therefore, I've never posted anything to my blog. For some reason I've been criticized for never updating my blog. This was never the plan. Well, plans have changed. I can't be outdone by some of my "un"techy friends that have started their own blogs. So here we go, I'm an official blogger!

Owen is growing by leaps and bounds. I will try to keep my blog updated with pictures and his latest achievements. Matthew is in school two days a week and will start soccer sometime in September. Can't wait to see him in his little uniform. Hope you enjoy my blog.
